Job Description

Network Engineer

            One of the world's leading providers of broadband satellite services is seeking a Network Engineer to perform network proof of concept testing, network administration, network device configuration, software installation and network device management. To be a successful candidate, you will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware. You will also need to be able to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network devices including firewalls, routers and switches. A deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is highly desired. The ideal candidate will also be agreeable, helpful, and efficient with a focus on high-level design and planning. The position is based in our Gaithersburg, Maryland office.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement network solutions for WANs
  • Maintain and administer lab computer network including system software, application software hardware and configuration
  • Configure and deploy network devices such as firewalls, routers and switches
  • Ensure switch configuration and network set up meets required security controls (NIST 800-171)
  • Ensure system backups are correct and perform disaster recovery when required
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware, software and network issues as necessary
  • Perform performance tests on configured networks with software development team

Requirements:
  • BS degree in IT related field of study with a network engineering focus
  • Must be capable of obtaining and holding a U.S. government security clearance
  • 5+ years hands-on of experience designing, developing and implementing configurations for network infrastructure and network hardware
  • Ability to implement, test, integrate and troubleshoot LAN/WAN configurations and equipment
  • Network Security experience including use of security scanners (e.g. Nessus)
  • Able to work in a team and support wider software engineering team in a professional manner
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing & Switching
  • Experience writing Python programs to automate tasks
  • Knowledge of Ansible and other automataion frameworks
